There is one thing to watch out for with this design: It doesn\'t use a regulator for the IR chip power just a voltage divider so if your serial port doesn\'t output +-12 V like the RS232 spec says but only +-5 V or 5/0 V then the IR chip will get a too low voltage (about 3 V here) and thus you won\'t receive any usable pulses out of it. (Symptom: \"mode2 -d /dev/lirc0\" on Linux will not show a page full of pulses and spaces when triggering a remote at the receiver and of course \"irw\" won\'t detect anything either.) Other than that, it works fine and compared to more complex receivers like mceusb the price is alright too...
